dc.description.abstract Over the last two decades or so a new form of kidney disease of unknown etiology has been reported in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. The disease is mainly prevalent in North Central Province. In Anuradhapura District alone 18,000 cases of CKDu are reported with over 200 deaths recorded annually. The research is about chronic kidney disease on ayurvedic medical system. The use of ayurvedic medicine has been increasing in both developing and developed countries. In some Asian and African countries, up to 80% of the population relies on ayurvrdic medicine for their health care needs. With this background, this study will be carried out to search improvements of the ayurvedic medicine for CKDu The general objective of this research is to explore the improvements of ayurvedic medical system on the chronic kidney disease. The specific objectives are, to identify the perspectives of ayurvedic medicine on CKDu, to identify the causes for CKDu on ayurvedic medicine, and to identify the ayurvedic treatment methodology on CKD Under the questionnaire method, 25 CKD patients were selected by chance as a sample from 250 patients who are coming to take treatments from Medawachchiya ayurvedic medical center & as a percentage, the sample is 10% from 250 patients. It is suggested that toxicity from agricultural activities, drinking water, and long term western medicines usage are the main causes for CKD. Further, more patients have a favor attitude on ayurveddic medicines due to short-term cure, low expenditure, treatment methodology which is not difficult. en_US
