Abstract:
This study will assess the digital information literacy skills and where they need training among the professionals of Bharathidasan University. This study followed a survey method and structured questionnaire has been used to collect data from the respondents.Professionals working in universities are not only engaged in teaching but also involved in research and development activities. They are considered as a disciplined group of individuals with high order of knowledge which they use to impart high order thinking skills in the minds of students. Hence, they are expected to posses the adequate cognitive and technical skills. In the present digital era, no doubt those professionals must also be cognizant of promoting digital literacy to help their students to acquire information quickly and effectively.The study adopted a survey procedure and a structured questionnaire has been used to collect data from the faculty members of various departments in the University. The responses collected were analysed using descriptive (Mean and SD) and inferential statistics such as t-test, F-ratio, chi-square and correction statistics.The study identified whether the faculty members are having adequate digital information skills, if not what type of training should be provided to them will be identified. The study identified whether there will be any gender difference with regard to digital information skills.
