Abstract:
Technologies are existing for education in various forms now. One key task involves shaping how best to make use of available technologies to enhance student learning skill. Electronic Learning Management System (E-LMS) is one the important approach for develop learning skill. Sri Lankan universities with rapid progress in postgraduate education with advanced teaching and learning technologies and have introduced the latest E-LMS in order to keep the pace of the technological revolution in the field of higher education. The setting for this research study was postgraduate students' use with special reference to the Master of Business Administration students of University of Kelaniya the local E-LMS within the context of a course-related teaching. On the other hand learning skills has always been a concern of those interested in the quality of learning and its relation to broader quality of students. Therefore researcher identified the need of investigating the relationship between E-LMS activities and learning skills and how effectively E-LMS has influenced students on their academic activities. Based on that, the purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between E-LMS and learning skills. The independent variable was E-LMS activities and dependent variable was learning skills. The validity and the reliability of the instruments were tested against the sample survey data. The type of this study is hypothesis testing and it was conducted in the natural setting with less interference of the researchers (non-contrived). The study is a cross-sectional in time and the primary data were collected by using convenient, judgmental, quota sampling. As the sample size 100 students who are studying at the University, but only 87 were responded. The unit of analysis was at individual level. A questionnaire developed by the researcher was used to collect the data for the study. To test the hypotheses, correlation analysis and regression analysis tests were performed. Findings of the study revealed that all the E-LMS activities (Assignment, Chat, Feedback, Forum, Glossary, Lesson, Quiz, Resources, SCORM, and Wiki) positively and significantly affect on learning skills of students in University of Kelaniya. Further it was revealed that among the E-LMS activities, Resources has the highest impact on learning skills.
