Abstract:
‘Computerised Documentation Service’ and ‘Integrated Set of Information Systems’ software package, known as CDS/ISIS is a software developed by UNESCO for creating textual databases in the 1970s, before information technology became a day to day affair. J-ISIS and ABCD (Automatisation de BibliothèquesCentros de Documentación) were introduced in 2008. The ISIS Software family has a unique technological concept to cope with Information Storage and Retrieval Systems (ISRS), particularly for developing countries where the technology is widely known and used. Library professionals are now facing ever before technological challenges in the library services. They need to have minimum level understanding of computer applications to cope with user’s demand. J-ISIS is user friendly and flexible application, which will help us to design and maintain server-client database system. This paper explores the possibility of creating and maintaining the digital library system without any complexity in the Unicode environment.
