Abstract:
The aim of this research is to discover which tempt the women, whose first language is
Sinhala, to which movies . The question is what would be the causes for the contemporary
Sinhalese women to watch movies. Social media stands as one of the most influential
factors out of them (Dissanayaka Wimal, 2009). Through this research, a certain idea
can be gained whether these reasons differentiate according to the level, social strata, and
age group of the females or whether causes remain unchanged despite all these factors.
The aim is to discover if there are more driving forces behind this in order to conduct
this research, twenty females age of 18- 25, 25-35, 35-55 are taken. In addition, “PATHTINI”
film and “MAYA” film are utilized for this. Even though several surveys have been
conducted regarding movie watching, the reasons and causes behind this action ware
not focused. This research is to explore them. The method applied for this research
quantitative data collection and analysis. The main aim is to discover the reasons, which
tempt the contemporary Sinhalese women to watch movies.
