Abstract:
Among many Information resources, Journal is important source for access to latest information. “A periodical devoted to disseminating original research and commentary on current developments in a specific discipline, sub discipline, or field of studyusually published in quarterly, bimonthly, or monthly issues sold by subscription. Journal articles are usually written by the person (or persons) who conducted the research.” (Online Dictionary of Library and Information Science)
The main objectives of the study are to identify objectives and need of using journals by management students and find out issues of they have to face. The study based on survey method. Questionnaires were used for data collection. Microsoft Excel was used analyzed the collected data. Under the survey research method, two Universities of Kelaniya, Sri Jayawardanapura were used as the sample. Used 100 management students in both of universities.
As the result of the study, most of the students used journal for needs of assignments. Issues of they have to face are lack of awareness of management journals in library, they have to spend more time to find journal article which they want. The study suggest that Raising awareness of readers about the co-ordination of periodical sectional journals and also the seekingof journal. Using the systematic and continual searching tricks and methods for easing off the accession into journals and articles. Presenting the newly bought journals for readers and publishing hand book consisted information of periodical section for raising awareness of users about latest journal by the library.
