Abstract:
Like everything in the world the language is also constantly changing. The conservation of a language is composed of four parts such as sounds, words, sentences and meanings. If any sound which included in any language is subjected into any change, in the same manner the meanings of such words are also subjected into changes. Due to the language revolution, meanings of the words do change accordingly. This can be named ‘meaning revolution’. This revolution happens in three different ways. Those are Expansion of meanings, contraction of meaning and transference of meaning. Hindi language belongs to Indo-Aryan language family and it has been inherited from Sanskrit language. The main objective of this research is to find out how the word in Hindi language which has been come down from Sanskrit has changed. The qualitative methodology will be used for this. Most often the changes in meanings of words are discussed in Linguistics. But those who study the Hindi language, the way of changing meaning of vocabulary of the language are very essential, for the study as well as the improvement of the knowledge. Therefore this type of research is very important not only for the scholars who study linguistics, but also for those who are engaged in the learning-teaching process of the Hindi language.
