dc.description.abstract |
Leech therapy is an Ayurvedic Para surgical procedure which is a treatment using
medical leeches. Indications for treatment with medical leech's blood and skin
diseases like varicose vein, cellulitis, psoriasis, eczema, acne vulgaris, hair loss
and ect. Leech application is a type of Raktamokshana which is very' much useful
especial in Pitta and Raktadushtiroga. Current treatment procedures which include
surgery, hair transplant, hormonal replacement therapy, topical applications and
may be treated by local steroid injections which are associated with many side
effects. But Ayurveda, the treatment procedures mentioned like Vamana, Nasya,
Mukha&ShiroA bhyanha, Pradeha, Siravedha and using Jalauka
can provide a simple, painless, economical treatment for this common element. A
male patient of 35 years old was presented in Surgical Clinic with complain of scalp
hair fall, associated with dandruff, itching since 3 years. For that Leech Application
was planned and result was significant. Assessment were observed clinically and
recorded with photography |
