Abstract:
This paper documents the development of a completely automated cloth rack for drying and protecting clothes during unpredictable weather conditions, without any human involvement. The idea of automatic clothes covering system was developed under home automation in IOT to prevent the clothes getting wet as soon as the rain comes. The proposed Rainout Companion provides a solution to people who find it hard and less time to get involved in laundry activities during monsoons and rainy days. The proposed automatic device can be functioned using the Atmega 2560 microcontroller included in the Arduino Mega board 2560. Further, environmental sensors such as temperature and humidity are used to obtain the real-time values for every two minutes. A mobile application is also designed to primarily to notify change of weather conditions and to control the functionalities of the IOT device from a remote place via internet. This research contributes to the smart home concepts and devices explored in Sri Lanka.
