Abstract:
Entertainment currently plays an integral part in modern man’s life. Undoubtedly, music plays a significant role in the field of entertainment and it has changed rather remarkably due to the concept of globalization. More often the song writers use more than one language and their bilingual pieces of work have been embraced by the audience as a result of bilingualism among many people. This paper is composed of a typological study based on 30 selected bilingual Sri Lankan song lyrics which have been extracted from secure web sites. The lyrics are categorized by analyzing their deviant bilingual characteristics and also by looking over how their linguistic identity can be categorized under certain morphological aspects. Therefore, this paper is a demonstration of various morphological processes evident in Sri Lankan song lyrics which depicts the creativity in the modern entertainment industry.
