The role of the monks in monetary transactions in ancient Sri Lanka from 3rd B.C.E to 5th C.E

Abstract

By evaluating the inscriptions, chronicles and the records kept by the foreigners as well as the Vinaya commentaries it is possible to understand the role played by the monks in the monetary transaction in the ancient Sri Lanka.
