Abstract:
From the beginning to the present, teaching methods within the Sri Lankan universities
have not changed very much. But with the arriving of new technological tools such as
like laptop, multimedia projector and computer software, some university lecturers are
using those tools for their lectures. The objective of this study is to determine if there is
a significant difference of achievements and attitudes between students under traditional
teaching and under multimedia assisted teaching.
A class of 50 students in social statistics with the use of multimedia assisted teaching and
a class of 50 students in social satistics with the use of the traditional methods of teaching
at the university of Kelaniya were the sample of this study. SOWT analysis method and
descriptive statistical methods were used to analysis the data. The results showed that
the achievements and attitudes were developed in the students under multimedia assisted
teaching than in students under traditional teaching.
