Tourism is a dynamic and growing industry. It is the fourth largest foreign exchange
earner and premier employer in the island. Tourism can be defined as travel for recreational
or leisure purposes. But it creates a negative impact of our society. Among the main sqcial
problems, homosexuality has been spread through out the Sri Lanka due to tourism.
But it cannot be a problem to the western world. Although sex within the��fr:amework of
marriage is the norm. Everybody has to admit that there are:-deviation. Homosexuality is
one of prominent issue in Sri Lanka at presnt. It is more severe when it affects the youth
physically or socially not only the in short term but also in the long term. Homosexuality is
spreading rapidly in Sri Lankan society buy threatening on child life at present. Specially,
some tourist guides (without guide license) are always motivate the children to practice
homosexuality.
The problem of this study is to any impact of tourism on homosexuality in Sri Lanka.
The objectives of this study are to identify the changes in human behavior caused by the
desire for money and to assess the impact of the informal sector on tourism development
in Sri Lanka. It has used both primary and secondary data for this study. Primary data was
collected from fifty respondents in Bentota coastal area by using informal interviews and
observation method. Data was analyzed by using tables, charts and percentages. This study
was limited to fifty respondents and only to the Bentota area.
According to the collected data it can be said that there is an enormous impact of
tourism on spreading homosexual in Sri Lanka. So the government, UNICEF and NGOs are
should take necessary action to over come or mitigate this problem to protect the children
in Sri Lanka. |
