This study focused on determining the effects of employment of undergraduates who are doing a job while following a degree on their academic performance. With this study, the researcher has identified how their employment has affected undergraduates' academic performance. Due to time management being very important, this study further focused on how the undergraduates manage their time to be involved with other academic activities.
Thus, the purpose of this study is to assess the impact of employment of their undergraduates on their academic performance in the University of Kelaniya, one of the leading government universities in Sri Lanka. In this study, the researcher conducted a quantitative and cross-sectional survey of 97 undergraduates in the faculty of commerce and management studies at, university of Kelaniya using a convenience sampling technique. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation and regression statistics with the aid of SPSS. It was noted that the employment of undergraduates is significantly related to their academic performance and that there is an impact on the employment of undergraduates on their academic performance. The study provides a major theoretical contribution in addressing the major component (GPA) throughout this study. As mentioned by Susan and Curtis (2000), there is a negative effect of the employment of undergraduates on their academic performance. |
