Abstract:
An enormous number of studies have explored the reward management function in human
resource management research. Being inimitable in exploring the reward management
function, the present study focuses to find what reward management practices are applied in
managing human resources of monasteries during 1026 –1042 AC reference to the epigraph of
King Mahinda IV. The research objectives are to find the meaning of reward management
during 1026–1042 AC and to find ancient reward management practices and to compare reward
management practices then and now in line with the reward management model introduced by
Armstrong. Findings revealed that there were reward management practices during the period
of 1026–1042 AC and comparison highlighted the differences and similarities in rewarding
